All rates are in Canadian dollars and are based on up to 3 person occupancy. Surcharge applies for more than 3 persons. Please ask about all times of interest to you, even if it seems they are booked, as sometimes changes to dates of bookings are requested, or stays are lengthened or the very rare booking is cancelled, etc.
Longer stays, when we can accommodate them, will typically begin on the Thursday after the Thanksgiving weekend but sometimes a bit earlier. Please ask for details.
Please also note that it is quite easy to fly into Coal Harbour, in Vancouver, or into the terminal in Richmond/Vancouver, or to Victoria by floatplane, from the Gulf Islands, in about 15 to 20 minutes or a bit longer to Seattle.

Payment is typically by email transfer for those with Canadian bank accounts. Otherwise, please ask. At the time of booking a rental deposit of is required to confirm & hold the booking and once the booking is held for you, all Kingfisher Cove policies, on this web site and in our contract, apply. Along with this rental deposit, we require the damage deposit of $400 in the form of a cheque, email transfer, or we will discuss other possible options. The remaining balance of the rental is due 6 weeks before the beginning of the rental period.
All minimum stays, regardless of season, must be paid in full at the time of booking. For other stays, personal cheques will be accepted if written on a Canadian bank account and dated and received by us 7 days prior to the usual due date - eg. for the final payment, instead of 6 weeks in advance, personal cheques are due 7 weeks prior to the first day of your booking.
Please understand that we cannot confirm a booking without a deposit.
Check in time is individually arranged in advance with each rental party as ferry schedules vary depending on the day of the week and time of the year. However, it is not usually possible for us to check you in before 1:30 p.m. and checkins too late in the afternoon make it difficult or impossible for us to get off island after checking you in. It is a good idea to call us in advance of making your ferry plans, and also as you arrive at Otter Bay, the ferry terminal on Pender. In order for us to get off island orientating you, we must make it to the ferry before cut off time, 40 minutes in advance of departure which means leaving the property at least one hour prior to our scheduled departure, or we lose our reservation and will not be able to get back to the mainland. Therefore, it is important that both parties are clear and cooperative about the arrangements for meeting at the cottage. It is also important that you reserve your spot on the ferry and arrive 40 minutes prior to departure. Please remember to bring our cell phone number and stick with arrangements as closely as possible. We will give you our numbers, along with your copy of the signed contract. Orientation usually takes about 30 minutes and driving time for you to get to the cottage is approx. 15 mins and same for us to get to the ferry.
Check out time is 10 a.m. on the day of your departure. We have a short list of things for you to do at departure and same will be discussed at orientation and they are also mentioned in your contract and in the information book at the cabin.
A damage/cleaning deposit of $400 CDN is required when the final balance of the rental is paid at 6 weeks prior to the beginning of the rental period. This deposit will be returned in full at the time of your departure or within 7 days, if the cottage is left tidy, clean and undamaged - in the same condition in which you received it. We are confident that our cleaners do a very good job, so confident, that we offer that if anything is amiss, you may call us within the first 24 hours, and we will organize for the cleaner to return for up to 2 additional hours. Renters are always met at the cottage by the homeowner (or rarely by a representative) to give you a good orientation. We want you to feel very comfortable and not have to spend time learning the basics about the cottage and the property.
Acceptance of the key establishes agreement that the cottage and its contents have been received clean, tidy and in good to excellent condition but as above, call us if anything is amiss. All garbage must be taken off the island as there is no landfill however, for a small fee paid to the retailer, guests can personally take garbage to a drop off centre at Medicine Beach which is only a few kilometers from the cottage. Usually, garbage is very small in quantity and there is a recycle centre on the island which renters are encouraged to use for cans, bottles, metal, cardboard, office paper and newspaper.
At Kingfisher Cove, we recycle as much as possible and are generally very conservation oriented. Garbage is never smelly as meat and chicken scraps as well as oyster shells, prawn shells, crab shells, and other seafood scraps are tossed into the sea to feed the crabs and the starfish. It is rare that we need to leave the island with more than a tiny bag of garbage after being there for a week. It is a simple, hygienic system and little is wasted.
After confirming your booking, you are responsible for the full amount of the rental, but we will make every effort to re-book. If we are successful, the amount received will be deducted from the amount you have paid and returned to you, less a $375 CDN administration fee. You are advised to obtain trip cancellation insurance to cover the possibility of illness, cancelled or delayed airplanes or other transit bookings, etc. Depending on how much lead time you have given us, we may or may not be able to replace your booking.Please re-confirm your arrival times with us the day before your arrival and double check your ferry or floatplane reservations, to avoid disappointment, especially on Canadian or American stat holidays such as the May long weekend; Canada Day/USA independence Day weekend - July 1st and 4th, Labour Day (Sept), B.C. Day (Aug), and during the Xmas to New Year time period etc.
Please note that the deposit and cancellation policies on this page apply to weekly and other short stays. For those renting by the month during the lower seasons, the deposit and cancellation policies will be in keeping with terms in your lease agreement.
